Given that both Watch Dogs: 1 and Watch Dogs: 2 are available for purchase on Steam, players safely assumed Watch Dogs: Legion’s Steam release on launch was inevitable. But to everyone’s surprise, Ubisoft confirmed some time ago that Watch Dogs: Legion Steam release isn’t going to happen for the time being. The game is set to be at the very least a timed exclusive for the Epic Games store on PC. Steam Watch Dogs: Legion version is expected to arrive a year after this. This means that players will have to use the Epic Games Store to purchase it unless they want to wait a year or potentially even more.

Yes, Watch Dogs: Legion will likely be on Steam sooner or later, but definitely not at the time of the game’s worldwide release. There haven’t been many official statements by the developers regarding why they chose to delay Watch Dogs: Legion Steam release and make it a timed-exclusive for the Epic Games Store. It is likely that Ubisoft made this call to encourage more players to use their own services as there have been a few Ubisoft games before this that weren’t immediately released on Steam.
